This image appeared in the latest Entertainment Weekly, hyping both the movie and the Comic-Con. I’m pretty excited about this image, and the panel this week that will hopefully have a lot cool clips from the film.

I’m actually sort of excited to see this movie, and I’ve never been a huge Iron Man fan (and, frankly, Civil War hasn’t really helped). This photo is almost enough to make me think that Marvel’s really nailed it this time around …

I wish Marvel hadn’t destroyed any interest I had the character. Hopefully this Iron Man will be a superhero.

Funny, Civil War made me interested in Iron Man again. Civil War Iron Man IS a superhero–his long-term goals are understandable and his reasons are altruistic; it’s his methods and judgment that are questionable, which makes him more realistic than he’s ever been. I don’t LIKE the guy, but I like reading the books he’s in. Like Phil Ken Sebben. (See also: Hulk. My opinion of him and the Warbound did a 180 as soon as they appeared over New York, and it just keeps getting worse. It’s weird; I couldn’t wait for WWH to start–and now I want these punks dead.)
Some people want Wonder Bread Iron Man, who doesn’t hold any extreme views and whose only error is liking drink too well, and who lives in a sugar-coated world where heroes can beat the **** out of each other then slap each other’s backs afterwards, and the PERMANENT grim and gritty stuff happens to minor characters. Sorry, that started going away back when Gwen Stacy’s neck snapped. (There’s always “Marvel Adventures - The Avengers,” where Cap is still alive, Hulk and Wolverine are pals, Iron Man and Spidey only duke it out on the PS2, and while someone’s feelings might get hurt at some point everything is fine at the end of the issue. It’s the polar opposite of Ultimate Marvel. Oh, and those “Power Pack” minis, which I eat up like candy.)
