We don’t usually get/see announcements about DC titles selling out, but when The Source announced Detective Comics #854 sold out and is going back to press, the first thought was that this is a really great thing. The Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams III series scored quite high in our review, and is something that should be in your hands.
Take the jump for a look at the full sized variant cover.

Reviews, plural. :)
And that cover is really striking…
Wow!
Considering how female-led comics are notorious for not doing well (such as the constantly-canceled Spider-Girl being Marvel’s longest lasting comic with a female lead), this is exceptionally cool news.
Apparently, lesbians sell better than straight women. Fun thing to think about…

Mmm… A quick websearch will prove that. :) It doesn’t hurt that this book has excellent art and interesting stories.
Well, it’s just funny, because I was having a conversation recently with a friend who is a GLBT community member and culture enthusiast, and we were bemoaning the dearth of lesbians in pop culture and fiction aside from erotica. In particular, the usual excuse from straight male writers that they don’t know how to write about lesbians or the occasional claim that gay characters don’t sell. So even if there’s a bit of a fanservice quotient and a Bat-quotient to the books sales, it shows that well-written lesbian characters -can- sell, which I think is a pretty cool thing.
They sold a lot of copies of this too.
I love the variant cover and how it incorperates both character into the cover, not just the main character.
DAMN IT!!!! this always happens. I buy a cover and then they make a second cover that i like even better. Awwww man!

Me too, cuz even while I’m liking this “new” Batwoman, I’m a sucker for Renee Questiontoya. I’m glad she gets to share the marquee with the Lady in Red (and Black).
