Cory Goodman’s Priest comicbook is getting the film treatment thanks to Stars Road Entertainment.

“Priest” is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires and follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

Cam Gigandet has been cast as a vampire sheriff, who teams up with Paul Bettany to save the girl he loves.

Uh, vampires? I don’t remember any vampires. I remember fallen angels, a plague/curse and a badass art style.

It’s a religious zombie western who got no free breaks and no happy endings. I really hope the artist/author has some sway in preventing this from becoming a trashy vampire.

Though, in a feature film, you can’t NOT have a happy ending. I wonder how they’ll change the story to allow things to end well. Perhaps the *modern* discovery of the diary will prevent their re-enactment.
