Marvel Comics and The Dabel Brothers have sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek at this issue.
I have a question: Matthew doesn’t care for the series, I haven’t read it, but it has sold well, so do any Spoilerites like the Anita Blake series?

I do! But I have read the ABVH books, so I’m probably biased.

Amy: As far as I know, you’re the only girl reading our site :D Please, please, please, give us your thoughts on this series and if it works or doesn’t work compared to the prose stuff.
Cheers

I think the comic is wonderful! It’s so good, I *almost* think it came first and Hamilton wrote a novelization based on it. :p
Stacey Ritchie has stuck closely to the prose and its amazing how well the book translates into comic form. Jess Ruffner takes over in Issue 6 and takes more liberties, which I feel makes the comic lose some of Hamilton’s “tone”. But I’ll have to read more before I can truly judge.
Brett Booth’s art took some getting used to, but he’s amazing with facial expressions. I love the colouring work by Imaginary Friends too.
As for First Death, it looks really promising. The interaction between Anita and the RPIT team is true to the novels - can’t wait for more. Based on these 5 pages alone, I think J Green does a much better job then J Ruffner.
