I saw a preview of Avenger’s Initiative today where Osborn reopens Camp Hammond and puts Taskmaster back in control, with the Red Hood in joint comamnd. Tasmaster I could accept obviously although lately it implied he’d be on the run, but Red Hood? Why is he deemed suitable to run a training camp. I knew nothing about him until Dark Cabal and now he appears in every bloody thing. My friend and I reckon he’s some darling of whoever’s in charge of Dark Reign.

I do believe that is the case. Brian Bendis has been on record as stating that he hates when characters like The Hood, The Sentry, Marvel Boy, etc. show up and then never reappear, so he's using them.

That said, The Hood is one of those characters that I liked in his initial incarnation, and have hated in every appearance since.

…I love Norm Breyfogle’s art, and do admit that period was great for the caped bat…but 20 years late?

Even Stephen King blows a deadline sometimes...

I'd have to agree with you on Detective Comics. The Mud Pack was one of my favorite storylines of all time with Batman.

Yeah, I saw the Detective #604 up there and it brought me back to when I started collecting comics -- right around Detective #598, I think, which I picked up off a rack in an airport bookstore in Portland, Oregon along with a couple of issues of Thundercats to 'read' on the plane flight home.

That was a great story arc, though.

Matthew, Matthew, Matthew...

...I laughed when you said you were kinda late with your reviews, but Detective Comics #604 (which, if memory serves, and because I'm at work unable to go through my collection, came out around 1989-90...)?????????????????

...I love Norm Breyfogle's art, and do admit that period was great for the caped bat...but 20 years late?

...I guess you needed more than 15 minutes to prepare for that fight to be able to win it...
