Jerardo: Thanks for the comments. In regards to all those other shows – have you seen their websites? There’s hardly anything there – at least not the extent of the coverage and items we have. So our thinking is, we can touch on a top story (selected at random) and for the rest you head to the website. The two have a symbiotic relationship with each other. The site supports the show, and the show supports the site, and the listener/reader make it all happen :D

Yeah Stephen i love you man and your show just as much, if you tell me to pick up a book on your recommendation that i would never(even if the book looks stupid like an fbi taddy baer)i would all other shows i listen to dont randomize their news thay talk about all the news and quickly make fun of the dumb news(like marvel pimpin their stuff)and move on. but like i said i love your show so you dont have to change anything although it would be nice. also came to the conclusion that Matthew takes all his cues from Michael Scott(The Office)

What you might think is important, may not be important to other listeners, and to keep us from spending 45 minutes on news and very little on the trade discussion of the week makes spinning the Wheel of Destiny the best solution – plus how many other shows randomize their news?

Also – I don’t see it, personally, but according to Moore & O’Neill the crowd scenes in the penultimate issues of Vol.1 feature people who are meant to be the ancestors of characters from popular British soap opera Eastenders.

That’s probably where I’d draw the line at ‘hidden references’.

Continuing on with that ‘date of publication’ idea, you’ll notice that in Volume 2, characters specifically created by the same author begin to gravitate towards each other – The Invisible Man helping the Tripods, and being defeated by Dr. Moreau – all of whom were thought-up by H. G. Wells.

Plus, there’s so many little references to things which only have tangential connections – e.g., Independence Day.

Will Smith’s character: *Punches Alien in the face* “WELCOME TO EARTH!”

Edward Hyde: *Tears open Alien transport* “Hullo, old chap. Welcome to England.” *Tears off and eats Alien’s eyeball*
