Already happened in the Marvel vs Dc vs Dc vs Marvel crossover; after a brief ‘this is my origin, what’s yours?’ dialogue and a battle thru the sewers, Cap discovered having only one throwing weapon is a disadvntadge againsta man with at least twenty, ESPECIALLY in a Dark Background where the Bat-Guy blends in and his red, white and blue opponent sticks out like a sore thumb.

I think the battlefield would play a major role in deciding who wins this fight.

Yes, but since Wesley Willis whupped Batman’s a**, shouldn’t the whole thing be a moot point?

John Byrne said in an interview once that Batman was the second best at everything, which allowed for the necessary culmination of skills that makes the Dark Knight. I always liked that way of putting it. So, that being said, Cap can still be the most gifted fighter, and Batman can still be the Bat.

What I object to is the automatic notion that because more people have heard of him, that he’s a better fighter. It’s like the assertion that Batman will always beat Superman because he owns a piece of Kryptonite. I own half a dozen steel chairs, but that doesn’t mean I’ll always win a fight against Macho Man Randy Savage…
I feel like Steve Rogers is being shortchanged in this potential fight because A: Salieri’s right, we’ve read this fight in print, B: the assumption is that Cap’s shield isn’t a good enough weapon against Batman and C: we’ve all bought into the myth of the all-powerful Bat enough that DC nearly ruined the character to give us The Batman who can defeat anything. Karate Kid shoulda beat him in combat, and then Bruce could use his BRAIN to overpower him. Same goes for Captain America, in my view.
