Annoying Gaming Habits, and How to Deal with Them
Tabletop roleplaying games, as well as LARPs are exercises in social contracts. Whenever a group of people sit down to play they all have to agree on the system, the arbitration of said system and on hundreds of unspoken rules. Of course, in this hodgepodge system there's always room for someone to start rocking boats, rattling cages and tipping over cows.
I have yet to see Magneto make any kind of Ultimatum. I also don’t think Joe Q will ever admit that Jeph Loeb used the title ‘because he thinks it sounds cool’.
I think it’s Ultimatum because, you know, there’s almost all of the word ‘Ultimate’ in it. Beyond that, I can find absolutely no reason to call this book what they’re calling this book because, as you’ve pointed out, Magneto isn’t exactly giving folks a choice of do this or I’m gonna do that. It’s entirely possible that Jeph doesn’t even really know what the word means.
Having read nothing of the Ultimatum series except for seeing the small version of those pictures, and given the massive amount of love for him – wouldn’t it be cool to have Wolverine crossed out, written back down, crossed out again and written back down? Just to show he’s a hard son-bitch to kill =p
