The man who could take a bunch of raincoats and turn them into a hot-air balloon is headed to the big screen. New Line has picked up the rights to develop the genius with a mullet as a feature film. Currently, no writer is attached, but Raffaella De Laurentiis is producing.
One wonders how popular MacGyver would be as a feature film, but thanks to Superbowl ads, and Saturday Night Live, there is a resurgence in interest. Why just the other day, I was talking to two young’uns who were born after 1992 (the year the television series ended), and they knew all about Richard Dean Anderson and his ability to stop a nuclear meltdown with a chocolate bar. Been watching the first Season on Netflix and its still very watchable. I for one have no problem with this other than its just another rehash of an old idea.
I’ll only go if they bring back Richard Dean Anderson.
Useless Jacin B. Trivia: Richard Dean Anderson was one of the first autographs in my autograph collection as a kid, between Gordon Jump (Mr. Carlson from “WKRP in Cincinatti”) and KC Royals’ Hall of Famer George Brett.
