Here’s your wrap up of the IDW Panel held at the New York Comic Con 2009.

  • To celebrate the 10th anniversary of IDW publishing, the company will release two books; one that features every cover ever printed by the company, and the other full of interviews with those who helped shape the company over the years.
  • A new Angel series is on the way.  It will be five issues, co-written by Juliet Landau.
  • Angel: Blood & Trenches, will find Angel in World War I, and written by John Byrne.
  • Fallen Angel ends with issue #31, however the company will relaunch with a new #1, which will feature a character from the Buffy universe.  The story will take place during the season five of the Buffy television series.
  • A new Spike series is on the way as well.
  • IDW will release a prequel series to the upcoming Astro Boy movie written by Scott Tipton.
  • Best news of the day – Doctor Who becomes a monthly beginning in July.  The first two issues find the Doctor in 1927 hooking up with Charlie Chaplin.
  • Don’t expect any new tales of the old Doctors because of licensing issues.
  • Fans of Star Trek will want to get the Star Trek: Countdown series, as it leads directly into the upcoming movie.
  • What of Star Trek before Kirk and Spock?  Check out Star Trek Crew, also written by John Byrne.
  • You want more Star Trek?

  • Savior 28 arrives in 2009, written by J.M. DeMatteis
  • More Zombies vs. Robots is on the way.  You can get electronic versions of the first series on iTunes today.
  • Chris Eliopoulous’s Desperate Times is being collected in a huge volume.
  • John Byrne is cleaning up at IDW, with Next Men getting a hardcover.
  • Michael Chiklis is working on Olympus with Marc Andreyko.  Chiklis will be drawn into the series as the Greek god Zeus.
  • IDW is taking further advantage of Barack Obama fever by releasing two more comics about the President this year.
