Here’s the lowdown on what went transpired during Friday’s Image Panel at the New York Comic Con 2009.

  • New graphic novels and series on the way from Image include
    • G-Man
    • Elephantman
    • Killing Demons (Christopher Yost)
    • Olympus
    • Dead@17: Afterbirth (see previous announcement)
    • Power Up
    • The Walking Dead Compendium (collecting issues #1-#48)
    • Imperial (Steven Seagle with art by Marc dos Santos)
    • Two new Dawn projects by Joseph Michael Linsner
  • Image also announced new versions of the early Spawn trades that will be relabeled as Spawn: Origins – it’s like reliving the 90’s all over again.
  • Robert Kirkman was not at Friday’s panel – he is probably trying to catch up on the backlog of delayed issues.
  • Several of the panel members stated they came to Image as it allows them to do the work they want to do.
  • Steven Seagle and Mike Allred might team up on a future project that is still being kicked around.
  • Rob Liefeld announced the Armageddon Now original graphic novel will arrive this year followed by Armageddon Now: Jada in May.
  • Invincible #60 will be 40 pages in length.
  • Image United sounds like an interesting project, where each creator will be drawing their own character in the series.  Sounds like a cool jam piece book!
  • The indication from Rob Liefeld was that Jim Lee was indeed working on the Image United project as well.

Quote of the Panel
“Yes, some of you may think I‘m a douchebag, but I’ve done it my own way for 20 years,” Liefeld said to chuckles from the audience, “And that’s the way to go.”
- Rob Liefeld

  • Wow… Walking dead 1-48?

Invincible issue 60 is 40 pages?

There’s a joke somewhere in there about Robert Kirkman being obsessed with length in his works, but I’d rather not.

But then I again, I suppose I just did. :D
